Istanbul Airport rewarded with top global recognition of “5-Star Airport”
Having been described as “5-Star Airport” by London-based aviation institute Skytrax, Istanbul Airport has become one of the 8 global transfer centers that have achieved this title.
According to a statement from the IGA, the Istanbul Airport, Turkey’s gateway to the world, continues to be the pride of the Turkish aviation with the awards it won globally.
Istanbul Airport has added a new one to its awards. The international airport previously was registered as the “Best Airport” in the “Digital Transformation” category within the “16th ACI Europe Awards” organized by the International Airports Council (ACI), thanks to its digital infrastructure and technological development. Istanbul Airport described as “5-Star Airport” by London-based aviation institute Skytrax, and has become among the 8 global transfer centers that have achieved this title.
5-Star Covid-19 Precautionary Airport
The airport has also been received the “5-Star Covid-19 Precautionary Airport” award, which is given special to the Covid-19 outbreak period, has reached this title with Fiumicino Airport in Rome, Hamad International Airport in Doha and El Dorado Airport in Bogota.
Prior to the Skytrax awards, Istanbul Airport received the “Airport Pandemic Certificate” given by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation and signed the “Covid-19 Aviation Health Safety Protocol” published by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The airport succeeded to be the first airport in the world to receive the “Airport Health Accreditation” certificate given by the International Airports Council.
The airport with the largest terminal with ‘5 stars’
