The second export freight train to China departs from Turkey

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure reported that the second export freight train from Turkey to China loaded with 1.400 refrigerators (42 wagons in total) departed from Saray on the 20th of December.

The first export train, having passed through Marmaray and reached China via the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line, travelled 8.693 kilometers. Crossing 2 continents, 2 seas and 5 countries, the train delivered its cargo to China in 12 days on the 19th of December.

42 containers carry white goods

In the declaration made by the Ministry, the following statements are issued:

“The second export train heading to China with 42 wagons that are full of 1.400 units of refrigerators departs from Çerkezköy at 19:05 on December 20th, 2020. The export train with a total length of 770 meters passes through Marmaray this morning and arrives in Izmit (Köseköy). Upon the completion of the customs procedures, the train will continue on his way to Xi’an, China.”

Turkey is set to become the transit transportation center between Asia and Europe

In the statement, it is highlighted that the export train is the most important proof of Turkey in the way to become a transit transportation center between Asia and Europe. The route to be followed by the export train has also been shared.

It is reported that the train is expected to leave the country from Ahılkelek Station, by following the route in Turkey which consists of Istanbul (Marmaray) -İzmit (Köseköy) -Eskişehir-Ankara-Kırıkkale-Sivas-Erzincan-Erzurum-Kars railways.

The export train, passing through the Marmaray tunnel and reaching China via the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line and the East-West-Middle Corridor with the Caspian Gate, will travel 8.693 kilometers. Crossing 2 continents, 2 seas and 5 countries and delivering its cargo to China in 12 days, it will continue to travel across Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan to arrive in China’s Xi’an province.
